Unique Approach

Generus Living sustainability strategic plan has been rolled out to village operations using unique village chapters. This staged approach allows a focused and considered integration, and ensures the individuality of each village is embraced.

The sustainability pilot programme was launched in October 2019 at Pacific Coast and Pacific Lakes Villages in the Bay of Plenty. Ranfurly Village Sustainability Chapter is the first Generus Living Collection village outside Bay of Plenty area.

At Ranfurly we are passionate about creating a special place that reflects the heritage of our location and past. The village has a unique personality blending contemporary apartment living with superb hospitality within a historic precinct. It is a beautiful and vibrant community, who feels strongly about a sustainable lifestyle.

The above sentiments were very evident in the recent Ranfurly Resident Sustainability Survey response - there was a strong interest to do more both on individual level and as a retirement village community. The resident feedback forms an important part of the development of the Village Sustainability Chapter.

One of the strong focus areas will be on waste minimisation. There are already several resident initiatives in place with battery, soft plastic and e-waste collections, and a wider education programme has also commenced to support the village sustainability aspirations.
